Several important meetings this week brought key decisions. OPEC+ agreed to maintain their current production levels, taking a wait-and-see approach. Between China reopening, EU embargos, and potential economic slowdowns, OPEC has a lot to monitor.
Week In Review (Feb 3 – Feb 7)
Crude oil began the week at $80.04 but quickly turned lower, ending Monday below $78. Prices continued sinking, taking a large turn downward on Wednesday. This morning, crude oil opened at $75.92, a loss of $4.12 (5.1%).
Diesel prices have trended mostly lower throughout the week, save for a brief jump on Tuesday. Prices opened the week at $3.2816, but fell below $3/gal on Wednesday. This morning, diesel opened at $2.9061, a loss of 37.6 cents (-11.4%).

I firmly believe that in order to do my job as effectively as possible, my responsibility starts with listening to you. This week I had the opportunity to meet with a number of our neighbors to talk about issues they care about - ranging from protecting our environment to making healthcare more affordable and improving our education system.
Estimation of variance when weightings were applied was accomplished by using robust sandwich variance estimators. In all analyses, a 95% confidence interval that excluded unity was considered evidence of statistical significance. This study was approved by the institutional review board of the VA St. Louis Health Care System (protocol number 1606333), which granted a waiver of informed consent. Analyses were conducted using SAS Enterprise Guide version 8.2 (SAS Institute), and results were visualized using R version 4.04.
